Dokra handicrafts are distinguished by their rustic beauty, endearing folk themes, and simple yet effective primitive designs. One of the oldest non-ferrous metal casting processes used by Dokra is known as “lost wax casting” (cire perdue). The Bardhaman and Bankura areas’ traditional Dokra artists relied heavily on sporadic fairs and exhibits to make a living selling their items.

Simple idols to diverse goods like silverware, candlesticks, incense burners, soap containers, and other useful items are produced using this creative form.
